Mt. Qomolangma tourism festival kicks off in Shigatse

Aug. 29, 2017 -- The 15th Mt. Qomolangma Culture &Tourism Festival kicked off Saturday in Shigatse city of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Erdini Qoigyijabu, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and vice chairman of the Buddhist Association of China, attended the opening ceremony.

34 activities will be held during the 7-day festival, including performances by Shandong performing groups, Tibetan folk songs and dances as well as innovative and entrepreneurial competitions.

Co-hosted by Shigatse city and East China’s Shandong province, the festival allows people to appreciate the city’s cultural and tourism beauties, its all-round development and harmony between different ethnic groups.
