July 27, 2017 -- The cultural event of "Experience China" kicked off Saturday in Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, to introduce China's rich ethnic cultures and development of China's western regions.
Pan Xinchun, the Chinese Consul-General in Edinburgh, said West China is an important cradle of Chinese civilization and is making a significant contribution in developing the Belt and Road Initiative.
The event will boost China-Scotland friendship to a higher level, Pan added.
"This event will showcase the well-preserved cultural heritage and the latest changes and development of ethnic minorities in western China," said Lu Guangjin, head of the delegation and director-general of the Department for Human Rights of the State Council Information Office.
Experience China, co-sponsored by the State Council Information Office and Chinese embassy and consulates in the UK, will last from July 20 to 26 in London, Edinburgh and Manchester. The event featured photo exhibitions, dancing and singing performances, movies and academic exchanges.
