Sept.12,2017--By the end of 2016, Tibetan highways had covered a total distance of 82,096 kilometers, an increase about one third compared with 2012. The first phase of the Lhasa-Nyingchi expressway was completed in September 2015, bringing Tibet to a new era of high speed traffic.
Since the Nyingchi section of the expressway opened, the travel time between Lhasa and Nyingchi has been cut by hours. After the second phase project is completed in 2018, it will take less than five hours to travel between the two cities.
Environmental protection has been taken into consideration during the entire construction process. The expressway has been decorated by local plants and profitable trees on both sides, which creates a green environment and offers local Tibetans a new source of incomes as well.
The Lhasa-Nyingchi expressway is expected to boost Tibet’s economy and improve people’s livelihood.
