Business people from all over the world are welcome to invest in Tibet, Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress, said here Sunday.

Qiangba Puncog made this remark at a press conference for domestic and foreign journalists at the Third Session of the 11th National People Congress (NPC).

He said that Tibet has improved its infrastructure substantially and has opened wider to the outside world since the democratic reform was launched in 1959, especially since the reform and opening up drive was initiated in 1979.

The unique natural environment, high altitude and abundant natural resources have made the region attractive to overseas Chinese and business people from Hong Kong and Macao.

Moreover, Tibet enjoys more and better preferential policies on investment introduction than any other areas in China.

Lhasa City Mayor Dorji Tsedrup said that Lhasa is the "cleanest and most beautiful place" in the world, and that more overseas Chinese have invested in the city in the last two years.

Lhasa will offer the best services and preferential treatment to tourists and business people around the world, he added.
