In the first six months of this year, Tibet has received nearly 1.5 million tourists. That's more than 330 percent higher than the same period last year. And the income from tourism has increased nearly three hundred percent to 1.1 billion yuan. Many other figures also show that development in Tibet is now on a fast track.
Zhang Qingli, secretary of CPC Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee,said, "Compared with the first half of last year, this year's regional GDP grew 10.3 percent, the cash income of peasants and herdsmen increased 15 percent, the fixed asset investment rose 23 percent and the total retail sales of consumer goods climbed 24 percent." |
