Tibet reopens to foreign tourists

Foreign tourists are now entering Tibet after the region lifted a month-long suspension

A group group of 11 German tourists arrived in Lhasa on Saturday. Their six-day visit includes scenic spots like the Potala Palace, Mount Qomolangma and the Norbu Lingka the summer palace of the Dalai Lama. More than 500 foreigners are expected to visit Tibet within the next couple of weeks.

The local tourism administration says Tibet is currently harmonious and safe and travel agencies, tourist resorts and hotels are prepared for visitors.
