Buddhist sutra wall in NW China

Sept. 1, 2016 -- A Tibetan woman prays at the Stone Sutra Wall behind the Heri Temple in Zekog County, Huangnan Tibet Autonomous Prefecture, Northwest China’s Qinghai Province, Aug. 31, 2016. The stone slabs inscribed with images of Buddhas and other designs are piled in layers to form a sort of wall 300 meters long, 2.5 meters wide and 3 meters high. The sutras engraved in Tibetan on the slabs total 200 million characters and include the Gangyur and Dangyur, two parts of the well-known Tripitaka.
