Annual session of Tibet's advisory body concludes

The 3rd session of the 9th Chinese People's Political and Consultative Congress of Tibet was concluded successfully in Lhasa, capital of Tibet, on Jan 13.

Delegate: Food storehouse proposed to build in remote Tibetan areas

Zhu Zhu, delegate for the 9th Tibetan Regional People's Congress proposed to set up food storehouse in remote areas in Tibet to cope with natural disaster. According to the delegate, Bianda County is the remotest county in Chamdo Prefecture in eastern Tibet, which is about 700 kilometers away from Lhasa. With poor road condition, the county often suffers from landslide, debris flow and other natural disasters. In the whole county there are around 120 places aptting to have landslide.

Tibet formulate policies to promote cultural sector

The Tibet Autonomous Regional Government has been working to formulate policies on promoting the development of the region's cultural sector, according to a senior official of Tibet on Sunday. "The 'Report on the Work of the Government' points out that the government should innovate mechanisms to step up efforts to develop the cultural sector," said Nyima Tsering, director of Tibet's Culture Department, and also a non-voting deputy to the third Session of the 9th Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress.

Qiangba Puncog: three guarantees policy benefits 270,000 Tibetan students

"Since November 1, 2009, the standards of "three guarantees" policy (guaranteed food, guaranteed clothing, and guaranteed housing) for the children of Tibetan farmers and herdsmen policy had been changed for the eighth time, with total amount of outlay up to 500 million yuan and 270,000 Tibetan children benefited." Qiangba Puncog, chairman of TAR said on the 3rd session of the 9th Chinese People's Political and Consultative Congress of Tibet which was held in Lhasa, capital of Tibet on Jan 10.

Tibet makes great efforts at legislation in 2009

The Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress made great efforts in 2009 to implement its five-year lawmaking plan, according to a press conference held in Lhasa on Wednesday. The committee deliberated ten laws and regulations last year, adopted nine and approved one, said Pang Boyong, inspector of the General Office of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress, at the press conference held before the opening of the Ninth Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress.

Two annual sessions of Tibet's legislature, advisory body to open

The third sessions of the 9th Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress and the 9th Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will open in Lhasa on Sunday and Friday, respectively.
