Sept. 8, 2015 -- "Although only 50 years have passed since the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region, or TAR, Tibet has witnessed monumental changes. "Tibet is now in its golden age," according to the white paper entitled "Successful Practice of Regional Ethnic Autonomy in Tibet" released on Sunday ahead of the 50th anniversary of the TAR's foundation.
For 20 consecutive years, Tibet has maintained double-digit growth with an average annual rate of 12.4%. The plateau is now prepared for a round of celebrations which a central government delegation will attend.

Last month, the CPC central committee held the Sixth Forum concerning the Work of Tibet, a high-level meeting that establishes policy in Tibet in the coming decade. At the meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the strategic logic of "giving top priority to stabilizing Tibet while governing the border areas in the rule of the whole country," and the principles of "governing Tibet under the rule of law, enriching Tibetan people, organizing long-term efforts to develop Tibet, and strengthening the overall cohesion of the people while laying a solid foundation for development."
