"The establishment of the Regional Department of Industry and Information Technology constitutes the institutional guarantee for Tibet to take a new industrialization path," said Li.
"I think the information industry is the basis of the national economy and we should integrate the development of both industrialization and informatization," he pointed out.
Tibet will restructure its industries with ethnic characteristics and transform its economic development mode, in a bid to display its superiority in resources and geographic location, Li said.
"The region will make full use of its hydro-energy, wind power and solar energy in an effort to expand a low-carbon economy," the director added.
In 2009 the added value of Tibet's industrial sector is projected to reach 3.3 billion yuan, up 12.3 percent year on year. The region has set an industrial added value of 4 billion yuan as its target in 2010, with a growth rate of more than 20 percent, according to Tibet Daily. |
